About me and how I work
I have been educated in theoretical approaches like Psychodynamic approach, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Humanistic approaches, Transactional Analysis (T.A) and other therapeutic theories and models.
My work and Practice
In addition to my training, I have experience of life and I understand life’s difficulties and challenges you may be going through. Most importantly, I work compassionately.
I aim to provide therapy that will meet your individual need in a safe, accepting, and non-judgemental environment.
I value and accept you as a person and will create a nurturing space for you to explore the difficult and stressful issues in your life, with genuine compassion.
I work with adults and young adults looking for support to manage stress, anxiety, depression, generalised anxiety, social anxiety, feeling sad, work stress, emotional dysregulation, and anger amongst others.
Relationships: I work with couples and individuals who are struggling in their relationships.
I work with people who may feel stigmatised and are looking for a counsellor who will understand and empathise with them from their cultural, ethnic, spiritual, relationship or mental health background.
I am a registered member of British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP), and work in accordance with BACP's ethical framework for the counselling profession.
I work short-term and long-term. Feel free to ask for clarification of anything you do not understand during out initial session.
At the initial session we will discuss and establish what concerns you are bringing to counselling. This first session will help us both discuss how we will work together and helps start our trusting and understanding counselling relationship which will help us work better together.
Counselling I offer
The counselling type you choose is entirely your choice and according to what you you feel will be more convenient for you. Each type has different advantage/disadvantage. People choose different type for different reasons.
Face-to-face - Fac2face/in-person is great when you can travel to your session easily and presents a different dynamic to the session and relationship.
I offer online/remote support. Choosing to have online sessions gives you great flexibility and the option to have your session in your most convenient and comfortable environment and saves you from travelling and travel cost.
Choosing online sessions also means distance is not an issue. you can have your sessions from any part of the nation.
Online sessions may also help you feel more safe if you are concerned about Covid-19, or if your mobility is limited.
My online work is provided via Zoom, Telephone, Teams, or WhatsApp if preferred.
